Dover, DE – The National State Auditors Association (NSAA) issued a Peer Review Opinion of Pass for the system of quality control in the Delaware Office of Auditor of Accounts (AOA). This mandatory (once every three years) review of the office’s organizational structure, policies, and procedures can result in a rating of pass, pass with deficiencies, or fail.

“When I took office in January of 2023, AOA was years behind on critical work after losing most of our long-tenured auditors and their institutional knowledge,” said State Auditor Lydia E. York. “I have focused on rebuilding this office with highly qualified staff who work hard every day to ensure transparency and accountability in our State. The results of this peer review process prove that work is paying off. I commend my staff for achieving this rating from the NSAA.”

During the period of June 1, 2024 – May 31, 2025 reviewed by NSAA’s External Peer Review team, AOA conducted landmark audits on dual employment by Delaware government officials, fiscal challenges in the State’s Unemployment Division, opioid grant recipient organizations, Delaware municipalities, and dozens of State agencies and school districts.

“In the years ahead, AOA will continue to be the leading government office working for transparency and accountability in Delaware,” said Auditor York. “Delaware residents can expect our office to issue a record number of reports on State government, all completed to our high standard of quality.”
